Sheila Donio, President
Sheila Donio is a professional actress and theater director from Brazil, with over 20 years of experience. A playbacker since 2004, Sheila was part of one of the very few full time professional PT companies in the world and founded a couple other companies later on. She is a graduate and a faculty member of the Centre for Playback Theatre and runs Playback workshops and supervision for Playback companies in Brazil and abroad.
Michael Cheng, Vice-President
Michael is a theater practitioner, with a passion for applied theater and drama with people with special needs. He is a graduate of the Centre for Playback Theatre, and Artistic Director of Tapestry Playback Theatre.
Debe Edden, Secretary
Debe is a graduate of the Centre for Playback Theatre. She has been the Director of the Heartsparkle Players Playback Theatre Company in Olympia Washington since 1991. Under her leadership, the troupe has produced hundreds of performances and workshops for youth and adults statewide, nationally and internationally. She is also deeply rooted in her local community and has been providing regular public performances for over 20 years. Debe is a North America Program Committee Member for the Playback Centre and a CPT Accredited Playback Theatre trainer.
Ronald Miller, Treasurer
Ronald is Professor Emeritus of Theatre Arts from McDaniel College, where he taught theatre for over twenty-five years, and for ten years was the director of the focus area in Interactive Theatre, which included coursework in Playback Theatre. He has been the director and primary conductor for two playback theatre companies: the Maryland Playback Ensemble, a community-based company in central Maryland; and McDaniel Playback, an undergraduate student company comprised of students engaged in the study of Playback Theatre.
Born 1957, Karin Bettina Gisler was as a teacher and farmer. She then trained in arts therapy and theatre, Pantomime, Clown and Action Theatre in Zurich, London, and New York with Ruth Zaporah, Augusto Boal, Philipp Gaulier, Keith Jonstone. 1990 she got infected by the Playback Virus, and founded the professional ensemble Playback-Theater Zürich. She gratuated from the Jonathan Fox School for Playback-Theater in 1994 (former CPT). She loves to travel und to teach Playback and does so in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Jester is a Playback Theatre practitioner, a social entrepreneur and a facilitator. After Typhoon Morakot attacked Taiwan in 2009, he organized Playback Theatre community in Taiwan to go into the disaster area and performed playback theatre with victims, social workers, volunteers and helpers. He is a graduate of the Centre for Playback Theatre (U.S.A.). And he is also a standing director of Taiwan Playback Theatre Association (Taiwan), and founder of Winds Playback Theatre company.
She is a full time Playback Theatre practitioner. She teaches and conducts PT workshops and performances for artistic, therapeutic and business oriented organizations with ‘Play-Life’ Playback Theatre Company, in Tel Aviv, Israel. She is the founder of “creative space” Playback Theatre. She has been a Playback Theatre actor, conductor and practitioner since 1991. For over 14 years now, she has been conducting groups and performances dealing with crises and trauma. Together with Aviva Apel-Rosenthal, she directs the Israeli School of Playback Theatre which is affiliated to the ‘Centre for Playback Theatre’ in New York, USA.
Jonathan Fox, Founder
Jonathan is the founder of Playback Theatre and the artistic and executive director of the original Playback Theatre company from its inception in 1975. He is the author of Acts of Service: Spontaneity, Commitment, Tradition in the Nonscripted Theatre; the editor of The Essential Moreno: Writings on Spontaneity, Psychodrama and Group Method; and co-editor of Gathering Voices: Essays on Playback Theatre. In 2008 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Kassel in Germany for artistic and scholarly achievement in theater.
