Location: Recanto Marista Champagnat, a retreat centre located above the city of Florianópolis, beach city in the south of Brazil.
This course, for new and experienced conductors, will offer an in depth investigation into the complexities and artistry of conducting. Students will practice finding the heart of the story, asking the essential questions to create warm-up, choosing the right form, reading the audience, and ensuring a balance of tellers. Experienced conductors will be able to explore levels beyond “I just hope a teller will come to the chair!” Beginning conductors will be able to learn the basic skill set. This training will build better conductors and group leaders so that we can deliver more effective and powerful Playback Theatre in the world.
Prerequisite: Core Training or equivalent, or with special permission.

Sheila is a Brazilian graduate of the Centre, an accredited trainer, and the current Chair of the Board of Directors of the Centre for Playback Theatre. With over 20 years of experience as an actress and theater director in Brazil and abroad, she became a playbacker in 2004 as a member of one of the very few full-time professional Playback companies in the world. She runs Playback Theatre workshops and offers supervision for companies around the world.
