Dublin Playback Theatre

The Dublin Playback Theatre Company are actively engaged with the process of communicating, enabling communities to tell their stories to each other and to a wider audience. All of the company members work full-time as youth workers, teachers, counselors and pyschodramatists, bringing great insight and knowledge with them whilst performing and working with a variety of organizations.

Some of the groups we have had the privilege of working with are Belong To Youth Project (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Youth), Headway Ireland (Acquired Brain Injuries), Sustainable Ireland (Eco Awareness), and Focus Ireland (Homelessness).

Since 2000 we have also performed Playback to facilitate dialogue at conferences and forums in the Dublin area. The Company have being gathering to workshop Playback techniques since 1998, and currently meet fortnightly to rehearse with the focus on a monthly performance in a public venue. Over the years due to financial constraints the company have experimented with venues and ideas…..and out of this was born ‘Living Room Playback!’ Where a company member would open up their home to create an intimate evening of wine, cheese and of course stories!

Sinead Moloney has been the company leader and conductor since 1998, and with the supportive guidance of Jonathan Fox graduated from The School of Playback Theatre in 2001 in the beautiful Les Combelles! More wine, cheese, and of course many stories! Sinead is both a practitioner and organizer within the arts and social care settings and is currently studying for an M.A. in Dramatherapy.
