Reviews

Artie Traum, Guitarist and Recording Artist
"Jo Salas has created an original album of sing-along songs that are uplifting, cheerful and perfect for group participation. Group singing is the way to engage and energize people in a positive way."

Eric Booth, Co-Director of Arts and Education at the Juilliard School and author of The Everyday Work of Art
"These songs provide that rare combination of easy entry for a non-musician and satisfying richness for experienced musicians. They are a uniquely valuable resource that I and my students can use to teach musical skills or to bring a group together. And at home we play this CD just for pleasure."

For Adults:

A collection of songs to sing with groups, Listen and Remember provides facilitators and group leaders  with an easy-to-learn repertoire including rounds, gospel tunes, childlike songs (not just for children), fill-in songs, and songs from varied cultural traditions.

With attractive musical arrangements that invite singing along, Listen and Remember provides educators with an easy-to-learn repertoire of classroom songs for all occasions. Teachers working with Cooperative Learning will find a wealth of songs and activities that promote team-building, along with humanistic value, such as "Place in the Choir," a playful song with a message of inclusiveness, or "Never Turning Back," a song about vision and determination that was sung at the 1994 Beijing Women's Conference. Other songs make reference to the wide world--a freedom song from South Africa, a Jewish meditation song, songs of hope and peace. For the holiday season there is a beautiful secular carol, "Light the Lights." This collection also has much for the musical, kinesthetic, and personal intelligences (interpersonal and intrapersonal) acknowledged and celebrated in Howard Gardner's Frames of Mind, with songs that involve physical action ("Matilda the Gorilla"), songs that invite self-awareness and self-revelation such as "Some of the million things," and songs and rounds with the aesthetic appeal of harmony--"Full Moonlight Dance," or "Circle Chant."

Review
Amy Hammel, DA, RMT-BC, The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center
"A 'must-have' for anyone leading groups, regardless of musical ability. This compilation includes a song for almost every need a group may have. These songs are full of light, energy, and love
."

For Families and Kids:

A collection of songs to sing with groups of all ages, Listen and Remember provides families and teachers with an easy-to-learn repertoire including rounds, gospel tunes, childlike songs (not just for children), fill-in songs, and songs from varied cultural traditions.

Listeners report that Listen and Remember has quickly become favorite family listening--often while driving together in the car. There are songs to appeal to all ages, from young children to parents and grandparents. All the selections are songs that families can easily sing along with and learn, perhaps personalizing the lyrics, for example in "Sing when the spirit says sing," or "Some of the million things." Others invite animal noises or sound effects--"Matilda" or "Place in the Choir." There are traditional African and Israeli songs, and a special song for Christmas and Chanukah--with only one verse to learn!.
